Birmingham Promise has received a three-year, $112,500 grant from the KPMG U.S. Foundation, supporting its mission to expand college access and career readiness for Birmingham City Schools graduates.
Backing Local Students’ Futures
The grant is part of KPMG’s $2 million national initiative to build stronger, more vibrant communities. Birmingham Promise offers up to four years of tuition at Alabama public colleges and universities for every Birmingham City Schools graduate.
Proven Impact
Since its launch, Birmingham Promise has provided over $15 million in tuition assistance to more than 1,600 graduates, while also funding internships for 350+ seniors to gain job skills and career connections.
Community Partnership
Executive Director Samantha Williams said the funding creates “meaningful opportunities” for collaboration with KPMG. Local managing partner Casey Bartok added that the support will help “strengthen pathways to college and career success for Birmingham’s next generation.”
