Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM) is adding special flights this fall to help college football fans catch key away games with ease.
Direct Flights to Major Matchups
Beginning August 29, Alabama and Auburn fans can take advantage of nonstop flights from Birmingham to five college towns. These routes, offered by American and Southwest Airlines, align with major Southeastern Conference games. Flights are scheduled to depart on Fridays before each game and return on the following Sunday, allowing fans to maximize their game weekend.
According to a statement from BHM, the extra flights are designed to “make it easier and faster to get to cities that will be hosting some of the big matchups.”
Game-Day Routes from American and Southwest
American Airlines will offer direct flights for:
Auburn vs. Baylor in Waco – August 29
Auburn vs. Oklahoma in Oklahoma City – September 20
Auburn vs. Texas A&M in College Station – September 27
Alabama vs. Florida State in Tallahassee – August 30
Alabama vs. Missouri in Columbia – October 11
Southwest Airlines will also add an extra route to Dallas Love Field for the Auburn vs. Baylor game on August 29.
More Ways to Fly In and Out of Birmingham
In addition, United Airlines is increasing nonstop service into Birmingham from Wisconsin, Tennessee, and Louisiana for Alabama home games. Delta is doing the same, with added flights from those three states and Oklahoma.
These additional routes should make travel smoother for fans planning to attend both home and away games this season. Tickets are already available on each airline’s official website.
