Birmingham business leadership shifts mark new era and farewells

Several high-profile leadership changes this week are reshaping Birmingham’s business and cultural landscape, from family-owned companies to iconic entertainment venues and major financial institutions.

McWane Welcomes Fifth-Generation Leadership

Birmingham-based McWane has named Will McWane as company president, marking the fifth generation of family leadership. Will McWane, who joined the company in 2014 and served as executive vice president since 2019, will oversee McWane’s domestic and international operations, including plumbing, real estate, and corporate functions.

His father, Phillip McWane, remains chairman. Founded in 1921, McWane now operates 18 companies and employs around 6,000 people globally.

Stardome Comedy Club Changes Hands

After nearly 43 years of family ownership, the Stardome Comedy Club in Hoover has been sold to Helium Comedy.

Longtime owner Bruce Ayers announced the sale while expressing gratitude to staff, performers, and patrons. The club, a local entertainment staple since 1983, will retain its name under the new ownership.

Regions Financial CFO Retirement

At Regions Financial, longtime CFO David Turner announced his retirement effective March 31, 2026, after nearly four decades in banking. He will be succeeded by Anil Chadha, current controller and head of corporate finance.

Turner’s tenure included guiding the company through the Great Recession and overseeing substantial financial growth, while Chadha brings extensive experience in finance and strategic planning, including leadership roles at UAB and REV Birmingham.

These transitions highlight both continuity and change across Birmingham’s business and cultural sectors, reflecting the city’s evolving economic and community landscape.
