Biscuit Love Birmingham Alabama

Biscuit Love Birmingham Alabama

I have been to Biscuit Love in Cahaba Heights a few times before (it is one of our favorite eateries when we are in the area), but on this visit recently, my husband and I went with readers in mind — what would readers want to hear about Biscuit Love?

Biscuit Love

This is not your typical breakfast place!  Biscuit Love is open for breakfast and lunch — not dinner — and they are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  But they even ship food! Be sure to check out their website for more information on locations and shipping. This Biscuit Love is currently the only location in Alabama.

According to their website, they began in 2012 with a bag of flour, a food truck, and a dream. Over the years, they grew to five locations in middle Tennessee and opened this location in Birmingham.  Locally owned and operated, all food is fresh and made from scratch “with love.”

Don’t expect “Southern greasy” biscuits here. These biscuits are light, airy, and delicious, layered much like a croissant.  The menu is divided by “with a biscuit” and “without a biscuit.”  And you can even purchase biscuits to go!  Meals are filling, and it is obvious ingredients are fresh, and items are “homemade.”

This restaurant is one place where I ALWAYS order an appetizer. One option is Bonuts, fresh biscuits tossed in sugar and lemon mascarpone served with their blueberry compote.  The other option is the B-Roll, a huge biscuit cinnamon roll made with their Signature Buttermilk Biscuit Dough and topped with pecan sticky bun sauce and served with cream cheese. We have had both; they are so yummy that I’m not sure I can pick a favorite!  It just depends on what you are in the mood for and how many people will be sharing.  The cinnamon roll/B-Roll was perfect for two.

Visiting Biscuit Love

On the day my husband and I visited in early March, I chose the egg plate, along with a shared B-Roll appetizer. The egg plate has two eggs any type, cheese grits, bacon or sausage and jam.  This was a delicious choice, and the eggs were cooked perfectly to reflect what I ordered.  The cheese grits were amazing, almost smokey flavored, bacon was crisp and thick — but oh, that biscuit with jam is delicious. No butter needed!

Shakshouka Veggie Bowl

My husband is a bit more adventurous, and he chose the Shakshouka veggie bowl. This is served straight from the oven with a toasted biscuit, and it is a big meal and a lovely presentation! The Shakshouka veggie bowl is one egg baked in a mix of tomatoes, roasted peppers, zucchini, and onions, topped with feta and fresh dill. David loved it! He said it was extremely hearty.

Al a Carte

You can get all sorts of items al a carte at Biscuit Love, including eggs, gravy, bacon, and biscuits, as well as sides of cheese grits, fried potatoes, salad, and bruleed grapefruit.

Drinks

Drinks offered are fresh-squeezed orange juice, brown sugar lemonade, iced tea, fruit tea, apple juice, hot chocolate, sodas in a bottle, chai latte, iced brown sugar oatmilk latte and pumpkin spice love, and of course, water. There are several coffee offerings and dairy alternatives, as well.

East Nasty

Another great item on the menu is the East Nasty – a biscuit topped with fried boneless chicken, though, aged cheddar, and sausage gravy.  You can add an egg if desired.  There is also oatmeal, granola, omelets, children’s and B-waffles, a hash bowl, shrimp and grits, and much more.

The Lindstro

The Lindstro looks interesting — it is shaved Brussell sprouts, hazelnuts, parmesan, lemon vinaigrette, and two poached eggs.  You can add shrimp to this if you like.  I have not tried this one yet, but I plan on it.

The Princess

The Princess is a buttermilk biscuit topped with Nashville-style boneless “hot chicken” thighs, pickles, mustard, and honey.  You can add an egg if you like.  Then there is the S.E.C., which is a biscuit topped with sausage, scrambled egg, and aged cheddar.  You can add sausage gravy if you like.

Kid Options

For children, you can choose from a kid’s egg plate, build your own bubble waffles, French toast, or grilled ham and cheese.

Biscuit Love Atmosphere

The atmosphere is lovely.  It is a counter-order establishment where you place your order and seat yourself, and then they serve you as your order is ready.  There is a bar where some people sit to eat, especially during rush times, and a patio outdoors for great dining when the weather is good.

Don’t miss the mini gift shop at the front, as well, for cute t-shirts, mugs, and a variety of other fun items. Be sure to go to www.biscuitlove.com to see a full menu, allergy guide, and days/hours of operation. You can also find them on Facebook, X, and Instagram.

This is a “don’t miss” eatery in Cahaba Heights, near The Summit (shopping center). If you aren’t familiar with the area, you might need to use your GPS— you really don’t see it until you are right there at it!

I think our total bill on this last visit was approximately $35.
