BLUEROOT closes at Pepper Place

Blueroot, the longtime go-to for fresh and healthy fare at Pepper Place, has officially closed to make way for a new concept: The Mustard Club.

A Fresh Start

A sign on the café’s door teased the change with a playful note: “Lettuce turn over a new leaf!” Owners Chris and Anna Newsome, the duo behind beloved Birmingham restaurant Ollie Irene, are leading the rebrand.

What’s Coming

Slated to open this fall, The Mustard Club will serve as an all-day neighborhood café, offering:

Morning: strong coffee and hot beignets

Lunch: stacked sandwiches, crave-worthy burgers, and fresh salads

Evening: aperitifs, snacks, and cocktails

Neighborhood Vibe

The Newsomes aim to create a welcoming gathering spot with a touch of elegance, ensuring Pepper Place regulars have a new go-to destination when The Mustard Club opens later this year.
