Cala Coffee is expanding again, with a new Mountain Brook location expected to open in 2026.
A Third Location for a Growing Local Favorite
According to online reports, the popular Birmingham-area coffee shop is preparing to open a new café in Mountain Brook Village on Montevallo Road. The space, located at 2409 Montevallo Road, was previously home to Suite Dreams, a home décor and bedding store that closed in 2024.
Cala Coffee’s continued growth has created opportunities for the brand to move into more neighborhood-focused areas, and Mountain Brook Village fit the vision for a walkable, community-centered location. Large front windows will bring in abundant natural light, making the café an appealing spot for studying, remote work or catching up with friends.
What to Expect at the Mountain Brook Café
The upcoming shop will be smaller and more intimate than Cala Coffee’s other locations, with a simplified bar layout and a unique back-room space that will allow visitors to spread out between two areas. The interior is essentially a blank slate, giving the team freedom to craft a fresh design approach for this specific neighborhood.
Guests can expect the same menu favorites offered at existing locations, including pastries from Bandit Pâtisserie and breakfast tacos from Ladybird Taco. Local creatives are shaping the look and brand of the café, with interior design by Christine Thornton of Studio Vestige and branding support from Andrew Thomson of A Studio.
Opening Timeline
Construction is expected to begin soon, but the timeline may shift due to the holiday season. Early estimates suggest the café could open in spring 2026, depending on buildout progress and permitting.
