Hardee’s has closed its Alabaster location, ending nearly eight years of operation across from the new library and recreation center.
Location and history of the closure
The restaurant was located at 9940 Highway 119 in Alabaster and was known for its made-from-scratch biscuits and signature burgers. This closure follows three other recent Birmingham-area Hardee’s shutdowns, including locations near the I-59 airport exit, Bessemer Superhighway in Midfield, and Montgomery Highway in Vestavia Hills.
Hardee’s closures nationwide
In December 2025, Hardee’s announced plans to close up to 77 restaurants across eight states. Only one Alabama location—in Geneva—was included in that nationwide list, leaving 91 Hardee’s still operating in Alabama, one of the chain’s highest state concentrations.
Community impact and trends
The Alabaster closure reflects a broader trend of Hardee’s consolidating locations in the Birmingham metro area, while local residents adjust to the loss of a familiar fast-food option.
