JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon visited Birmingham as part of a multi-state tour, stopping by a branch near the University of Alabama at Birmingham to speak with employees and local media.
Focus on Expansion in Alabama
The visit comes as the bank plans to triple its branch presence in Alabama by 2030, with 24 new locations expected statewide. Dimon emphasized that the strategy is about more than growth—it’s also about hiring locally, investing in communities, and maintaining a strong customer focus.
Leadership Through Listening
“You have to be on the ground,” Dimon said. “That’s how you learn what’s working and what’s not.” Dimon, who has led the company since 2006, is known for holding town halls across the country. He stressed the importance of direct feedback and building personal relationships, even in an increasingly digital banking landscape.
Value of Local Banking
“People still value face-to-face advice,” he said. “A lot of banking still happens at the branch level.” After the Birmingham stop, Dimon continued his tour through Georgia and the Carolinas, highlighting JPMorgan Chase’s recent milestone: opening 1,000 new branches over the past seven years.
