Lé Fresca co-owners Duaine Clements and Marco Butturini have expanded their Italian footprint in Birmingham with the opening of Locanda Brasato in Lane Parke, taking over the former Post Office Pies space in Mountain Brook.
Inside Mountain Brook’s newest Italian restaurant
Nearly six years after opening Lé Fresca downtown, Clements and Butturini decided it was time to introduce a second concept rooted in traditional Italian hospitality. Located at 270 Rele Street, Locanda Brasato reflects a philosophy built around patience, craftsmanship and food made the right way, not the fast way.
The name itself sets the tone. In Italian, locanda refers to an inn that offers rest and nourishment, while brasato describes a slow-braised beef dish. Together, they represent the restaurant’s focus on comfort, care and time-honored cooking methods. Every stock, dough, pasta and sauce is prepared in-house, emphasizing technique and intention in every dish.
What’s on the menu at Locanda Brasato
The menu is intentionally focused, featuring antipasti, pizza, primi, secondi and dolci. Guests can expect handmade pastas, thoughtfully prepared mains and desserts that balance richness with restraint. Signature offerings include radiatori alla vodka with stracciatella, burrata paired with seasonal accompaniments, wild-caught Alaskan halibut with smoked saffron sauce, and indulgent desserts like gelato al forno finished with torched meringue.
By keeping the menu tight, the team highlights quality ingredients and traditional Italian methods that have stood the test of time.
Now open in Lane Parke
Locanda Brasato is now open and welcoming guests in Lane Parke, adding a new Italian destination to Mountain Brook’s dining scene. The opening follows the recent closure of Sol y Luna Tapas & Tequila in the same development, marking a shift in the neighborhood’s restaurant lineup.
Locanda Brasato is located at 270 Rele St. in Mountain Brook. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 4–10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m.–10 p.m., and is closed on Sundays.
