Milo’s Tea Co. closing Homewood facility

Milo’s Tea Company has permanently closed its Homewood manufacturing and distribution facility, effective immediately, as part of a plan to consolidate operations at its Bessemer site. The company said the move allows it to invest in modern infrastructure, accelerate growth, and create jobs more efficiently.

Employee Transition and Support

More than half of the employees affected by the Homewood closure have relocated to the Bessemer facility, keeping the same job titles and pay. For the remaining 38 employees who cannot move, Milo’s has provided four months of severance, continuation of benefits, and career transition support, including access to open positions at other company sites.

Facility Role and Company Strategy

The Homewood plant served as a production and distribution center for Milo’s beverages, with limited office space. By shifting operations to Bessemer, the company aims to centralize equipment investments and focus on facilities with more modern capabilities. Milo’s said the decision aligns with its goal of continuing to deliver high-quality beverages made with real ingredients while supporting regional job growth.

Continued Operations in the Region

While the Homewood location has closed, Milo’s operations at the Bessemer facility remain active, ensuring ongoing production and distribution in the Birmingham area. The company noted that this consolidation reflects broader industry trends toward centralized, modern manufacturing facilities to increase efficiency and support long-term growth.
