Carrigan’s leaving Morris Ave but not for long

After more than a decade on Birmingham’s historic Morris Avenue, Carrigan’s Public House is preparing for a big move. The popular restaurant and cocktail bar will close its current location on September 6 and reopen in October at The William, a new mixed-use development in the heart of downtown.

A New Chapter for a Birmingham Staple

Founded in 2013, Carrigan’s quickly became known for its lively atmosphere, creative cocktails, and signature pub food—including favorites like the Carrigan’s Corn Dog and Pub Loaded Fries. While the new space will be a little smaller, fans can expect the same character and details that made the original a Birmingham favorite. Even the restaurant’s distinctive Land Rover back bar will make the move.

Inside The William

The William, developed by Carrigan’s owner David Carrigan and his firm Clovenstone Real Estate Development, transforms a former department store into a modern hub for living and dining. The project will feature:

27 boutique apartments in three unique layouts: The Skylight, The Alley, and The Avenue

A street-level retail space

An exclusive rooftop penthouse and bar

A brand-new home for Carrigan’s

Prime Downtown Location

Carrigan’s new address at 1911 3rd Avenue North puts it within walking distance of some of Birmingham’s biggest attractions, including the Alabama and Lyric Theatres, McWane Science Center, Pizitz Food Hall, and Railroad Park.

With downtown continuing to grow as a destination for food, nightlife, and entertainment, Carrigan’s move positions it right in the middle of the action.
