A national customer communications management company, OSG, has announced that it is delaying the closure of its Birmingham production facility at 5200 East Lake Blvd. until the end of 2025. The facility was originally scheduled to close earlier this year, affecting 135 employees.
Closure Extended to Ensure Client Continuity
OSG Chief Marketing Officer Sarah Guckes stated that the extension was necessary to meet client needs and ensure continuity of service while production work is gradually shifted to other OSG facilities in Carol Stream, Illinois, and, in some cases, Milwaukee and Mount Airy, North Carolina.
Employee Support During Transition
The company emphasized its commitment to Birmingham employees during the extended transition, noting that severance packages, outplacement services, and additional resources will remain available to impacted staff.
Economic Factors Not a Consideration
OSG previously clarified in March that the closure decision was not influenced by economic conditions, and the delay strictly serves operational and client-related purposes.
