UAB earns national honor roll recognition for workplace excellence

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), the state’s largest employer when combined with UAB Health System, has earned a spot on the Honor Roll of the Great Colleges to Work For program, marking a first-time national recognition for the institution.

Recognition Highlights UAB’s Workplace Culture

According to a recent release, UAB previously earned recognition in 2023 and 2025 but this is the first time the university has been included on the Honor Roll, highlighting institutions that set the standard nationally for workplace culture, employee engagement, and satisfaction.

Leadership Responds

“Earning this Honor Roll distinction speaks to our dedication to shared governance, collaboration and continually making UAB an even better workplace,” said UAB President Ray Watts. Chief Human Resource Officer Janet May added that the recognition reflects UAB’s commitment to ongoing improvement for faculty and staff.

Impact Beyond the Campus

The designation underscores the university’s culture of pride and collaboration, as well as its positive impact on the Birmingham community, the state of Alabama, and beyond. UAB continues to focus on enhancing the work experience while fostering excellence in education, research, and healthcare.
