Winn-Dixie is shutting its Fultondale location at 1721 U.S. 31 N., the grocery chain confirmed, with the store set to close in early November.
Company Statement
A spokesperson for Southeastern Grocers said details are still being finalized and promised updates as the process moves forward. The company thanked associates, customers, and the community for their support and understanding.
Uncertain Future for Location
It remains unclear whether the Fultondale store will be converted into an Aldi location, part of the chain’s ongoing restructuring efforts.
Broader Alabama Impact
Earlier this year, Winn-Dixie closed four other Alabama stores. Aldi, which acquired 220 Winn-Dixie and Harvey’s locations, is converting many into Aldi stores while selling roughly 170 others to a consortium, including the chains’ liquor store operations.
