Alabama band and Jamey Johnson to play Birmingham

The legendary country band Alabama will return to its home state for a major concert in Birmingham in 2026, joined by fellow Alabama native and country star Jamey Johnson.

Founding members Randy Owen and Teddy Gentry will perform on May 9, 2026, at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater, marking the band’s first appearance at the venue since it opened in 2025.

Concert details and ticket information

The concert begins at 7 p.m., with tickets going on sale Friday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. CT, following a series of presales earlier in the week. Ticket prices range from $39.50 to $99.50, depending on seating location.

The Coca-Cola Amphitheater, located at 2350 15th Ave. North, has a capacity of approximately 9,300 and is entering its second full concert season.

Alabama’s legacy and Birmingham ties

Formed in Fort Payne in 1969, Alabama became one of the most influential bands in country music, achieving widespread success through the late 1970s and 1980s. The group helped redefine the genre with a sound that blended traditional country with Southern rock and pop influences.

Over the decades, Alabama has maintained a strong connection to Birmingham, performing at major venues across the city and returning regularly for high-profile shows and benefit concerts.

Coca-Cola Amphitheater’s growing 2026 lineup

The May 9 performance adds to a growing slate of concerts scheduled for 2026 at the Coca-Cola Amphitheater. Other announced acts include Widespread Panic, Tyler Childers, Charlie Wilson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Goose, and “Weird Al” Yankovic.

The venue opened in summer 2025 and continues to attract national touring acts across multiple genres.
