A new Mexican restaurant is preparing to open this spring in Birmingham’s Parkside neighborhood, adding another dining option to the growing Urban Supply development downtown.
Location, hiring plans and restaurant design
De Nada will open at 1300 2nd Ave. S. inside Urban Supply, a mixed-use project developed by Orchestra Partners. The restaurant plans to begin hiring this month, with up to 25 full-time employees and 15 part-time positions available.
The 4,582-square-foot space will include seating for 149 guests indoors and 16 outdoors. In addition, a private dining area will accommodate up to 25 people.
The design blends rustic and modern elements and features a locally commissioned mural, a sculptural fountain, an open kitchen and a churro window. CCR Architecture & Interiors is leading the design, while Blackston. Construction is overseeing the buildout.
Menu highlights and bar offerings
De Nada will serve a range of Mexican dishes, including ribeye fajitas and tortas, mahi mahi ceviche, chile rellenos, tamales, street tacos, quesabirrias, churros and tres leches cake.
The bar menu will feature margaritas, including a spicy signature option.
Meanwhile, the restaurant will offer a weekday happy hour from 3 to 6 p.m. with discounted food and drinks. Guests can expect a full lunch menu and all-day dinner service. A weekend brunch menu is also planned to launch several months after opening.
Urban Supply’s growing Parkside presence
De Nada joins a list of new businesses opening at Urban Supply, which focuses on restoring historic buildings and creating walkable public spaces.
The development continues to attract new restaurants and retailers, further strengthening Parkside’s reputation as a dining and entertainment destination in downtown Birmingham.
