Raising Cane’s eyes new Birmingham-area location

Raising Cane’s is planning another Birmingham-area location, with Trussville city leaders confirming the proposal is under review.

Trussville Proposal Moves Forward

Trussville Mayor Ben Short announced that Raising Cane’s appeared before the city’s Design Review Committee as part of new business proposals. He said the project reflects continued growth and strong business confidence in the city’s future.

The proposed restaurant would add to the chain’s growing presence in Alabama. Currently, Raising Cane’s operates three locations in the state — two in Tuscaloosa and one in Birmingham — with additional expansion underway.

Expansion Across Alabama

The company is set to open a new restaurant at 5301 U.S. 280 in Birmingham on March 10. That location replaces the former Lloyd’s Restaurant site, a longtime local establishment that closed in 2023 after 86 years in operation.

Nationally, Raising Cane’s plans to open 29 new locations this year, including 11 in the same month as the Birmingham opening.

The brand continues working toward its long-term goal of more than 1,600 restaurants across the U.S., building on its current footprint of more than 900 locations in 44 states.

Continued Growth in the Region

The Trussville proposal comes amid broader commercial development in the area, with additional hospitality projects also under consideration.

If approved, the new Raising Cane’s would further expand dining options in the eastern Jefferson County corridor and strengthen the chain’s presence in the Birmingham metro.
