Miles College partners to teach AI skills to Alabama High School students

Miles College is launching a new program to teach Alabama high school students about artificial intelligence, years before graduation. The initiative aims to prepare students for AI careers and global workforce demands.

Preparing students for the AI future

Through this partnership, up to 750 high school students in the Birmingham area will gain hands-on experience with AI tools and technology. Miles College President Bobbie Knight emphasized the goal of building a “high school-to-college workforce readiness pipeline” to prepare students strategically for the global economy.

The multi-year pilot is supported by StudyFetch, NVIDIA, and a grant from UNCF. StudyFetch provides an AI-powered platform that creates notes, quizzes, and a 24/7 AI tutor to help students succeed. NVIDIA contributes curriculum through its Academy and Deep Learning Institute.

Hands-on learning in local schools

The program recently visited Parker High School in Birmingham to demonstrate AI applications to students. Participants will engage in workforce preparedness activities developed by StudyFetch and enhanced with NVIDIA content.

Esan Durrani, CEO of StudyFetch, said the initiative shows “what’s possible when educators and industry partners unite to expand opportunity and workforce readiness.”

Expanding access and innovation

Miles College, a historically Black liberal arts college in Fairfield, seeks to address gaps in technology access and industry exposure for underserved students. This collaboration strengthens the college’s role as an innovation hub for students and entrepreneurs while preparing the next generation of AI-savvy professionals.
