Topgolf has reportedly reduced staff across the country, with layoffs affecting some employees at its Alabama venues.
Layoffs Reportedly Affect Multiple Topgolf Locations
The entertainment company, which operates locations in Birmingham, Huntsville, and Mobile, has reportedly laid off hundreds of workers nationwide. Reports indicate that some Alabama venues may have lost several employees as part of the cuts.
The layoffs reportedly impacted positions connected to sales, hospitality, operations, events, and customer experience. Some former employees claimed management roles were also affected at certain locations.
Company Faces Financial and Leadership Changes
The staffing reductions come months after private equity firm Leonard Green acquired the company. Topgolf also made major workforce cuts in 2025, reportedly eliminating around 300 positions after financial pressures linked to tariffs affected company costs.
The company’s leadership team has also undergone changes under CEO David McKillips. Reports indicate that several top executives were replaced as part of broader restructuring efforts following the acquisition.
Entertainment Brand Navigates Business Challenges
Topgolf became widely known for combining golf games, sports bars, food service, and social entertainment into one venue. The company expanded rapidly across the country and opened locations in several major Alabama cities.
Despite its popularity, recent reports suggest the company has faced financial challenges in recent years. Business analysts previously noted declining company value and increased operational pressure as the entertainment and hospitality industries continue adjusting to changing consumer trends.
