The Pihakis Restaurant Group is dealing with another legal challenge after a new eviction lawsuit was filed against the company’s Birmingham office space.
Court Filing Targets Closed Downtown Office
101 Parkside has filed an unlawful detainer action against Pihakis Restaurant Group over its office at 101 12th St. S., Suite 300 in Birmingham. The filing went to Jefferson County District Court earlier this week.
The lawsuit argues that the tenant failed to vacate the property after receiving a lease termination notice. The office location has already been closed for several weeks.
An unlawful detainer case focuses on possession of a property rather than financial damages. In this case, the filing does not include a specific dollar amount.
Restaurant Group Faces Multiple Legal and Financial Issues
The eviction lawsuit adds to a growing list of legal problems for Pihakis Restaurant Group. The company currently faces multiple lawsuits tied to unpaid debts. These claims total more than $1 million.
In addition, developers have filed liens in two counties that exceed $12.6 million. The company also began closing restaurants in April, starting with Tasty Town Greek Restaurant and Lounge in downtown Birmingham.
As a result, several locations have shut down or changed ownership in recent weeks. Some restaurants, including Hero Doughnuts & Buns and Little Donkey, have already transitioned to new operators or new branding.
Ongoing Changes Across Local Restaurant Portfolio
Despite the closures, a few restaurants connected to the group continue operating under new ownership structures. Some chefs and operators have remained involved during the transition period.
Meanwhile, other dining concepts tied to the group are adjusting or relaunching under different management. The situation continues to evolve as legal and financial pressures affect the company’s footprint in the Birmingham restaurant scene.
