A fast-casual Southwestern restaurant chain is expanding into Alabama, bringing customizable burritos, bowls, and fresh-made menu options to the Birmingham and Tuscaloosa markets.
Barberitos Plans Multi-Unit Expansion in Alabama
Barberitos has signed a five-unit franchise agreement that will introduce the brand to Birmingham and Tuscaloosa. The Athens, Georgia-based chain is known for its “better burrito” concept, offering made-to-order meals built around fresh ingredients and customizable recipes.
While exact locations and opening dates have not yet been announced, the expansion marks a significant step in the company’s growth across the Southeast. Barberitos already operates in several Alabama cities, including Auburn, Dothan, Prattville, and Wetumpka.
A Fast-Casual Brand Built on Fresh Customization
Founded in 2000, Barberitos focuses on Southwestern-style meals prepared in a fast-casual format. Customers can choose from burritos, tacos, bowls, salads, and quesadillas, all made to order with fresh ingredients.
The menu emphasizes daily-prepared components, including house-made salsas, hand-prepared guacamole, and freshly grilled proteins. The brand also offers options designed for health-conscious diners, including high-protein meals and vegetable-forward selections.
Growth Across the Southeast Restaurant Market
The expansion into Birmingham and Tuscaloosa is part of a broader growth strategy for Barberitos as it continues to scale across the region. The brand currently operates dozens of locations throughout the Southeast and has additional restaurants in development through its franchise pipeline.
A franchise partner leading the expansion said Birmingham’s strong dining culture and appreciation for quality food made it an ideal market for the brand’s entry.
As new locations are finalized, more details on site selections and opening timelines are expected to be released.
