The City of Birmingham has named Kenneth Cox Jr. as the new director of the Birmingham CrossPlex.
Leadership at a Key Moment
Cox brings years of experience in athletic administration and facility management. He has also earned recognition as a collegiate Hall of Fame coach. In his new role, he will oversee the CrossPlex’s major venues, including its indoor track and field complex, the natatorium, and Bill Harris Arena.

A Premier Sports Destination
The Birmingham CrossPlex spans about 750,000 square feet and serves as a multi-purpose athletic complex. The facility features a hydraulic banked track, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and a 5,000-seat arena.
Since opening, the CrossPlex has hosted major events, including NCAA Championships. It continues to serve as a central hub for regional and national sports competitions. With new leadership in place, the city aims to build on that success and expand its reach even further.
