A new dining concept has arrived in Hoover, blending bold Indian flavors with familiar American-style dishes. Desi Twist is now open at The Villages at Brock’s Gap, offering a fresh take on fast-casual dining.
A Unique Bollywood-Inspired Concept
Desi Twist introduces a Bollywood-themed atmosphere alongside a menu that combines traditional Indian recipes with modern presentation. The restaurant was founded by local entrepreneur Ali Mathani, who aimed to bring something new and personal to the Birmingham-area food scene.
The concept reflects both cultural influence and community roots, as Mathani grew up in Hoover and returned to open the restaurant in a familiar neighborhood.
Customizable Menu with Creative Dishes
The menu centers around customizable bowls, allowing guests to choose their base, protein, and toppings—similar to popular fast-casual models. In addition to bowls, the restaurant offers a variety of inventive handhelds that reinterpret classic Indian dishes with an American twist.
Menu highlights include butter chicken pizza on naan, chicken 65 burgers, biryani-style tacos, and paratha smash burgers. The restaurant also features a selection of specialty drinks, including Desi-inspired cocktails like a spicy margarita, cucumber cooler, and espresso chai martini.
Family Recipes and Local Flavor
A key part of the restaurant’s identity comes from its family-driven approach. Many of the recipes are developed and prepared with help from Mathani’s family, bringing a homemade touch to the menu.
Located at 1031 Brocks Gap Parkway, the restaurant is open daily with extended evening hours later in the week. With its combination of bold flavors and customizable options, Desi Twist adds a distinctive new option to Hoover’s growing dining scene.
