The Alabama Butterbean Festival, a cherished Pinson event for two decades, is coming to an end, organizers announced this week.
Two decades of tradition
Since 2006, the festival celebrated the butterbean with family-friendly attractions including live music, carnival rides, fair food, car shows, and petting zoos.
It grew from a small community gathering into one of the Southeast’s largest festivals, drawing thousands of visitors each year.
Record-breaking moments
The festival earned international recognition in 2010 when the Guinness organization documented its world record for cooking the largest pot of baked beans at 1,010.65 gallons.
Vendors and attendees have shared emotional responses to the festival’s end, calling the news “heartbreaking” and “devastating.”
Community reflections
Festival organizers thanked sponsors, vendors, and attendees for their support over the years.
“Your support, laughter, and love made this festival what it was—and those memories will always be a part of Pinson’s story,” a spokesperson said. Families reflected on decades of shared memories, making the festival a signature event for the community.
