Greek eatery Tasty Town announces sudden closure

A popular Greek restaurant in Birmingham has closed its doors after four years of service.

Sudden Closure Announced

Tasty Town Greek Restaurant and Lounge ended operations on April 12. The restaurant shared the news through its social media accounts the following day. It did not provide a reason for the closure.

The restaurant opened in 2022 and operated at 16 14th Street South. It was part of the Pihakis Restaurant Group, a well-known name in Birmingham’s dining scene. In its announcement, the team thanked customers for their support during its run.

A Standout Dining Experience

Tasty Town built a reputation for offering modern takes on traditional Greek cuisine. Its menu featured dishes such as souvlaki, seafood, fresh salads, and a variety of dips. The Pihakis culinary team developed the menu, with leadership from executive chef Paul Yeck and other notable chefs within the group.

The restaurant gained attention for several standout dishes. Food writers and diners often praised its appetizers and small plates.

Zucchini fritters, served with honey and tahini butter, became a customer favorite. Many guests also enjoyed items like meatballs, stuffed grape leaves, and hummus with Greek meat sauce.

Located near Railroad Park and Regions Field, the restaurant served lunch and dinner daily. It also offered brunch on weekends, which attracted both locals and visitors.

Community Reacts to the News

Customers expressed surprise following the announcement. Many shared their reactions on social media, noting that they had not expected the closure. Some recalled recent visits and said they planned to return. Others highlighted the restaurant’s atmosphere and food quality as reasons they would miss it.

Tasty Town joins several other Birmingham restaurants connected to the Pihakis Restaurant Group. The group continues to operate multiple concepts across the city, often in partnership with well-known chefs.

The closure marks the end of a short but memorable run for the restaurant. Its departure leaves a gap in Birmingham’s Greek dining scene and adds to ongoing changes in the local restaurant industry.
