A new hands-on learning facility has opened in downtown Birmingham, giving students across central Alabama an interactive space to build financial literacy and career readiness skills.
New Educational Center Opens at McWane Campus
The JA McWane Economic Education Center officially opened on June 11 at 2201 6th Avenue North in Birmingham. The facility was developed by Junior Achievement of Alabama to provide students with practical lessons in money management, economics, and workforce preparation.
The center is designed as a state-of-the-art educational space where middle and high school students can engage in real-world simulations and interactive learning experiences focused on financial decision-making and career exploration.
Focus on Financial Literacy and Career Skills
The new center aims to strengthen financial education by helping students understand budgeting, earning, saving, and economic systems through hands-on activities. Programs also introduce career pathways and workplace skills intended to prepare students for future employment opportunities.
Educators and program leaders say the center provides an immersive environment that connects classroom learning with real-life financial and professional scenarios.
Expanded Access for Students Across Central Alabama
The JA McWane Economic Education Center will serve schools throughout the central Alabama region, offering field trip opportunities and structured educational programs.
Junior Achievement of Alabama says the goal is to improve long-term financial understanding and career readiness for students through early exposure to practical economic education.
