A unique café where guests could relax with adoptable cats will close its doors in Alabaster at the end of August.
Final Month for Lotus Catfe
Lotus Catfe recently announced on social media that it will permanently close after serving the community for three and a half years.
The locally owned business offered visitors the chance to spend time with adoptable cats in a comfortable lounge while enjoying coffee, tea, or other beverages. The café also hosted beginner-friendly yoga classes, offered specialty gifts, and held community events throughout the year.
Cats Available for Adoption
Before the café closes, 17 cats are still looking for permanent homes through Ginger Cat Rescue, which operates inside the business.
All adoptable cats have been spayed or neutered, received their vaccinations, and been dewormed. Anyone interested in adopting can browse the available cats and submit an adoption application through Ginger Cat Rescue.
A Unique Community Space
In addition to its cat lounge, Lotus Catfe featured a small retail shop with books, crystals, oracle and tarot cards, and other specialty items. The business also offered angel card readings and regularly hosted special events for the community.
Its closure marks the end of one of the Birmingham area’s most distinctive gathering places for cat lovers, while its adoption efforts continue to help local cats find new homes.
