A new Hoover play center gives young children a place to explore while parents can work, relax, or enjoy a drink nearby.
Diggin’ Depot Brings a Unique Play Concept to Hoover
Diggin’ Depot Play Center is now open at 2057 Old Montgomery Highway near the Galleria.
The family-focused space features a 600-square-foot sandbox filled with about 40 tons of sand. The setup also includes construction-themed toys and hands-on activities for young children.
The concept was created by Lori and Eric Watts after seeing how much their son enjoyed sandbox play. The owners wanted to create a space where children could play while parents stayed nearby.
The center also features Diggin’ Depot Little City, a pretend community designed for imaginative play. Children can explore spaces such as a fire station, farmers market, and Little Latte Cafe.
Parents Can Work While Kids Play
Diggin’ Depot is designed with parents in mind as well. The facility includes desks and chairs where adults can work while keeping an eye on their children.
The cafe also offers a place for parents to take a break. Baba Java Coffee is available along with specialty drinks, smoothies, pastries, and grab-and-go options.
This setup makes the center an option for families looking for an indoor activity that also accommodates a workday or casual outing.
Diggin’ Depot Hours and Visiting Information
Children must be 7 years old or younger to enter the sandbox area. Families must reserve and purchase a play pass before visiting through the Diggin’ Depot website.
Monthly and three-month memberships are also available.
Diggin’ Depot is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. Happy hour runs from 4 to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Party options are also available. Semi-private party spaces are offered on Saturdays, while private party spots are available Sunday afternoons.
