Popular Birmingham sandwich shop Ampersandwich is preparing to open a second location in downtown Birmingham later this year.
New Downtown Location Announced
The locally owned restaurant recently revealed plans to expand into the former Zoe’s restaurant space at 1819 5th Avenue North. The new location will bring Ampersandwich’s signature sandwiches closer to downtown workers, residents, and visitors.
Known for serving sandwiches on fresh bread from Birmingham Breadworks, the Avondale eatery has become a favorite lunch destination for many locals. The downtown expansion marks the company’s first additional location.
Opening Expected This Fall
According to the announcement, the new downtown restaurant is expected to welcome customers around September 2026. While an official opening date has not been announced, preparations are already underway for the launch.
The expansion comes as downtown Birmingham continues to attract new restaurants and businesses, giving residents and visitors more dining options in the city center.
