Arthur Shores Park

Arthur D. Shores Park is a 2.67-acre Birmingham city park located on a triangle of land between 19th Street North, F. L. Shuttlesworth Drive, and 12th and 13th Avenue North, across from Oak HillCemetery,y in the Druid Hills neighborhood of Birmingham's Northside community. The park was established by the Birmingham City Council with support from the Druid Hills Neighborhood Association and Druid Hills Concerned Citizens. It was dedicated in 1986 and named for attorney and civil rights leader Arthur Shores. Birmingham Times publisher Jesse Lewis headed a fund-raising campaign to commission a $10,000 granite monument to Shores from Clark Memorials. The park also features a large circular trellis, a small playarea,a and a few picnic pavilions. A small terraced amphitheater was added in 1992 with $600,000 in bond funding.
