Alabama’s first electric motorcycle dealership opens in Birmingham

Birmingham now has Alabama’s first dedicated electric motorcycle and dirt bike dealership. BB Electric Moto has opened in the city’s Automotive Historic District, offering sales, service, and custom builds focused entirely on electric-powered motorcycles.

A New Venture Inspired by Personal Interest

BB Electric Moto is an offshoot of Birmingham Broker, founded by Craig Westbrook. The idea for the dealership grew after Westbrook and his son developed an interest in electric dirt bikes. What began as a personal hobby quickly evolved into a business opportunity as demand for electric bikes increased among local riders.

Westbrook describes BB Electric Moto as the “baby brother” of Birmingham Broker, emphasizing its specialized focus. Unlike traditional bicycles with electric assist, the motorcycles sold at the dealership are fully electric and operate without internal combustion engines.

Products, Brands, and Services

The dealership carries more than 50 electric motorcycles and dirt bikes, with prices ranging from approximately $1,300 to $6,500. Available brands include Arctic Leopard, E Ride Pro, Ventus, RERODE, 79Bike, SURRON, VALTINSU, and Coswheel.

The store also plans to feature emerging brands such as Bonnell, including models that are generating interest within the electric motorcycle market.

In addition to sales, BB Electric Moto provides custom builds, performance upgrades, and repair services. These services include battery diagnostics, motor rebuilds, and modifications tailored to rider preferences, allowing customers to enhance speed, power, and overall performance.

Riding Experience and Customization

According to Westbrook, electric motorcycles offer a different riding experience compared to gas-powered models, particularly in terms of acceleration and torque. Riders often customize their bikes shortly after purchase, upgrading components such as grips, pegs, and motors to achieve higher performance.

Grand Opening Event

Although the dealership opened in January, BB Electric Moto is hosting a grand opening event on Saturday, April 11. The celebration is expected to include discounted pricing on select electric bikes, live music from a DJ, complimentary items, and catered food.

The dealership is located at 2224 4th Avenue South in Birmingham and operates Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is closed on Sundays.
