Bryant Vincent will return to Birmingham this weekend as Louisiana-Monroe takes on UAB at Protective Stadium.
Bryant Vincent Returns to Protective Stadium
The former UAB assistant and interim head coach will lead Louisiana-Monroe into a non-conference matchup against the Blazers on Saturday. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Protective Stadium, with the game streaming on ESPN+.
Before joining ULM, Vincent helped shape one of the most successful periods in UAB football history. His return marks the first time he has coached in Birmingham since leading the Blazers during the 2022 season.
A Lasting Legacy at UAB
Vincent first joined UAB in 2014 as offensive coordinator before the football program was discontinued. After spending three seasons at South Alabama, he returned to Birmingham in 2018 and helped rebuild the Blazers alongside head coach Bill Clark.
During their five seasons together, UAB posted a 42-21 record, captured two Conference USA championships, and earned three bowl victories. Vincent also guided the team to a Bahamas Bowl win while serving as interim head coach in 2022.
Reflecting on his return, Vincent said Birmingham holds many meaningful memories because of the championships, bowl victories, and relationships built throughout his time with the program.
UAB and ULM Enter Week Two
Both teams enter Saturday looking for their first win of the 2026 season. UAB opened with a 42-23 loss at Illinois, but the Blazers outgained the Fighting Illini in total offense and controlled possession for much of the game.
Meanwhile, Louisiana-Monroe dropped its opener to Mississippi State. Vincent praised UAB’s performance despite the loss and called the Blazers a quality opponent ahead of the Birmingham matchup.
