Popular Southern chicken chain Guthrie’s has expanded its presence in the Birmingham metro area with the opening of a new location in Hoover. The restaurant marks the company’s 34th store in Alabama and its fourth within the Birmingham region.
New Hoover Location Details
The new Guthrie’s is located at 1817 Montgomery Highway, positioned in front of the Riverchase Village Shopping Center. The location is locally owned by Hud Guthrie and partner Chris Witts. This opening follows the recent expansion of the brand in nearby Vestavia Hills and adds to the chain’s continued growth across the metro area.
Menu and Dining Experience
Guthrie’s is known for its signature menu centered around hand-breaded chicken fingers, served with crinkle-cut fries, Texas toast, hand-chopped coleslaw, and its well-known dipping sauce. The restaurant maintains a consistent menu across all locations, emphasizing simple, classic Southern fare.
The Hoover restaurant employs approximately 35 staff members and operates daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., offering convenient hours for lunch and dinner customers.
Brand Background and Expansion
Guthrie’s was founded in 1965 by Hal Guthrie Sr. in Haleyville, Alabama, originally operating as a drive-in serving burgers and barbecue. Chicken fingers were later introduced in 1978, along with the signature sauce that helped define the brand.
Today, Guthrie’s operates more than 70 locations across 12 states, continuing its expansion while maintaining its roots in
Southern hospitality and tradition. Company leadership has expressed enthusiasm about growing its footprint in the Birmingham area through locally owned franchise partnerships.
