Kids get another play space at Hoover

The Hoover Family YMCA has officially opened a new playground, giving children in its youth programs a dedicated space to play, explore, and stay active.

New Playground Now Open

The YMCA of Greater Birmingham and the City of Hoover recently celebrated the opening of the McGregor-Sandlin Playground with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Hoover Family YMCA.

Located at 2250 John Hawkins Parkway, the new playground is available for children participating in the YMCA’s Child Watch and Summer Day Camp programs. The addition expands the recreational opportunities already offered at the Hoover branch.

Supporting Youth and Family Programs

The new playground complements the YMCA’s focus on youth development and family wellness. Children enrolled in Child Watch and Summer Day Camp now have access to an outdoor play area designed for recreation, social interaction, and physical activity.

The Hoover YMCA serves families throughout the community by offering youth sports, swim lessons, fitness classes, childcare services, and wellness programs for all ages. The playground adds another feature that supports active lifestyles for young members.

Part of a Growing Community Resource

Since opening in 2011, the Hoover Family YMCA has become a popular destination for fitness, recreation, and community programs. The facility includes a fitness center, indoor pool, seasonal splash pad, gymnasium, and spaces for group exercise and youth activities.

The addition of the McGregor-Sandlin Playground reflects the YMCA’s continued investment in creating family-friendly spaces that encourage healthy living and community engagement.
