The U.S. Postal Service will hold a job fair in Birmingham this month as part of a statewide hiring effort to fill several skilled and entry-level positions.
Birmingham Job Fair Scheduled for June 17
USPS representatives will be available on Wednesday, June 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Birmingham Processing and Distribution Center, located at 351 24th Street North. Applicants can meet with postal officials, ask questions about available roles, and receive assistance with the application process.
The Birmingham event will focus on hiring automotive technicians and maintenance mechanic positions related to mail processing equipment. Officials encourage interested candidates to attend and learn more about career opportunities within the postal service.
Multiple Positions Available Across Alabama
The June 17 hiring event is one of several job fairs USPS is hosting across Alabama. Additional events will take place in Mobile and Montgomery on the same day, with openings for automotive technicians, electronic technicians, and maintenance mechanics.
A separate hiring event is also scheduled for June 30 in Madison, where USPS plans to recruit rural carrier associates. These positions involve delivering mail and packages in rural communities and may provide opportunities for career advancement within the organization.

USPS reports that many of the advertised positions offer competitive hourly wages. Automotive technicians and maintenance mechanics start at $28.75 per hour, while maintenance mechanic positions focused on mail processing equipment begin at $35.78 per hour. Electronic technicians start at $37.61 per hour.
Rural carrier associates earn starting wages of $21.89 per hour and may qualify for benefits and future career opportunities. Postal officials say these positions play a key role in maintaining operations and ensuring reliable mail delivery throughout Alabama communities.
