The Homewood City Council approved plans Monday for the Andrews Sports Medicine facility at the old Belk location in Brookwood Village, adding new office space and additional parking.
A $110 Million Investment
The $110 million project could spur further development in the area. Samuel Stettheimer, commercial real estate reporter for the Birmingham Business Journal, noted that Andrews CEO Lisa Warren has expressed interest in adding a hotel nearby. This would make commuting easier for patients and support surrounding businesses, including Samford University and office buildings.
Local Support and Future Plans
Mayor Jennifer Andress, who lives across the street from Brookwood Village, is optimistic about the project’s impact. She envisions the development attracting restaurants, hotels, and other businesses to the area. “If you go to Andrews, you are going to want to eat, maybe stay nearby. A hotel could be part of the plan, and that would be impactful for our region,” Andress said.
Construction Timeline and Holistic Vision
Construction for the Andrews facility could begin in April 2026. Mayor Andress also hinted that a “holistic” plan for the remainder of Brookwood Village might involve both Homewood and Mountain Brook, with more details expected in the future.
