Popular mobile bakery finds permanent home

A popular Birmingham-based dessert food truck is moving into its first permanent location at The Pizitz Food Hall.

Food Truck Success Leads to Permanent Home

La MoreliAna Bakery will open a storefront at 1821 2nd Ave N in downtown Birmingham. The business will operate inside The Pizitz Food Hall in the stall previously used by Ashley Mac’s Kitchen.

The bakery started as a food truck run by Ana Araujo and her daughters, Joana and Marlen. After growing strong local demand, the family decided to transition from mobile service to a fixed location. They expect to open the new stall in June.

Family Business Built From Home Baking to Viral Growth

Ana Araujo began baking traditional Mexican pastries after moving to the United States. At first, she sold baked goods out of her car to support her family. As interest grew, she launched a YouTube channel that later built a large international following.

That online presence helped the family expand into food festivals and community events across Birmingham. As a result, their food truck quickly gained popularity and introduced thousands of customers to their desserts.

Signature Mexican Desserts Come to Downtown Birmingham

La MoreliAna Bakery specializes in traditional Mexican sweets such as pan dulce, tres leches cake, and churro cheesecake. The churro cheesecake features cream cheese filling with cinnamon and sugar topping.

The new location will allow the bakery to offer a wider variety of desserts in a permanent setting. In addition, the owners expect more consistent access for customers who previously followed the food truck schedule.
