A California-based Indian fast-casual restaurant is set to open its first Alabama location in Birmingham, bringing street food-inspired dishes to the city’s downtown dining scene.
Curry Up Now Opens on 20th Street South
Curry Up Now will open at 425 20th Street South on June 17, marking its debut in the Alabama market. The franchise already operates in several states, including California, Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, and Tennessee, and is expanding further across the Southeast.
The brand began in 2009 as a food truck concept founded by a husband-and-wife team in San Francisco before growing into a multi-state restaurant chain focused on modern Indian street food.
Menu Blends Indian Street Food With Fast-Casual Dining
The Birmingham location will feature a fast-casual menu built around customizable bowls, burritos, naan-based dishes, and fusion items. Popular offerings include rice bowls, Kathi rolls, the “Naughty Naan” Indian-style pizza, and other street food-inspired dishes.
The menu also includes familiar American-style items such as chicken tenders and wings, reflecting the brand’s fusion approach to Indian flavors and casual dining.
Expansion Plans for the Birmingham Market
Company officials say Birmingham is the first step in a larger Alabama expansion, with plans for up to three locations in the metro area. The opening adds a new international dining option to downtown Birmingham’s growing restaurant mix.
The launch reflects continued interest from national fast-casual brands entering the Birmingham market as the city’s food scene continues to diversify.
