Oneonta adds Scooter’s Coffee and Traveler’s Tea & Tomes

Oneonta has expanded its local dining and retail scene with the opening of two new businesses that offer residents more places to enjoy coffee, tea, books, and community gatherings.

Scooter’s Coffee Opens in Oneonta

Scooter’s Coffee recently celebrated the grand opening of its new drive-thru location at 1300 2nd Avenue East. The ribbon-cutting ceremony brought together the Blount-Oneonta Chamber of Commerce, local leaders, and community members to welcome the Nebraska-based coffee franchise to the city.

To mark the opening, the new location offered special promotions, including free drinks, complimentary merchandise, and a week of free beverages for the first 100 customers who used the Scooter’s Coffee mobile app.

Known for its quick drive-thru service, Scooter’s Coffee serves a variety of hot, iced, and blended beverages, along with specialty coffee drinks and breakfast items.

Traveler’s Tea & Tomes Welcomes Book Lovers

Another new addition to downtown Oneonta is Traveler’s Tea & Tomes, a bookstore and café located at 231 1st Avenue East in the former Grapes & Hops building.

The locally owned business offers a cozy space where visitors can relax with a book while enjoying tea and light refreshments. The shop also highlights Alabama-made products, including Piper and Leaf teas, and features books, artwork, and handcrafted goods from regional authors, artists, and makers.

Traveler’s Tea & Tomes is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Two New Destinations for the Community

The openings of Scooter’s Coffee and Traveler’s Tea & Tomes give Oneonta residents two distinct gathering places. Coffee lovers now have a convenient new drive-thru option, while readers and tea enthusiasts can enjoy a welcoming downtown space that supports local creators.

Together, the two businesses continue the growth of Oneonta’s local business community while offering new experiences for both residents and visitors.
