Birmingham is encouraging young people to apply for its Kids and Jobs summer program, offering paid work opportunities and hands-on experience for youth across the city.
Paid Summer Work for Youth
The Kids and Jobs program is open to participants ages 14 to 24, giving them the chance to gain real-world work experience while earning income.
The program runs for five weeks during the summer, with participants earning between $11 and $14 per hour.
Organizers say the initiative helps young people build skills, explore career paths, and develop confidence in a professional setting.
Building Workforce Experience
Through the program, participants are placed in various roles that expose them to different industries and work environments.
The goal is to provide early workforce experience that can support future employment opportunities.
Students also benefit from mentorship and skill-building activities designed to prepare them for long-term success.
Call for Local Business Partners
In addition to recruiting youth participants, the program is seeking local businesses and organizations to join as partners. These partners play a key role in providing job placements and helping guide participants through their work experience.
Organizers say collaboration with the local business community is essential to creating meaningful opportunities and strengthening Birmingham’s future workforce.
