A nationally recognized food publication has named a Birmingham restaurant the best date night destination in Alabama.
National Recognition for a Birmingham Favorite
Tasting Table recently released its list of the best date night restaurants in every state, selecting Bayonet as Alabama’s top choice.
The Birmingham restaurant earned recognition for pairing an upscale atmosphere with a seafood-focused menu and seasonal ingredients.
The publication highlighted Bayonet’s elegant setting, fresh Gulf seafood, and locally sourced dishes. Its menu changes throughout the year and often features fresh oysters, fish specialties, and creative takes on classic favorites.
An Award-Winning Dining Experience
Chef Rob McDaniel opened Bayonet in early 2025 alongside his wife, Emily. The restaurant occupies Birmingham’s historic Berry Building and has quickly become one of the city’s most celebrated dining destinations.
McDaniel, a six-time James Beard Award semifinalist, built Bayonet around high-quality Gulf seafood and seasonal cooking. The restaurant has also earned a Michelin recommendation and previously received a Bib Gourmand distinction.
In 2025, The New York Times included Bayonet among its 50 best restaurants in America, while The Takeout named it Alabama’s best seafood restaurant.
