Birmingham is partnering with the U.S. Coast Guard to help local businesses learn how to compete for federal contracting opportunities.
Free Information Day Planned for Local Businesses
The City of Birmingham will host Coast Guard Information Day from 9 to 11 a.m. at Boutwell Auditorium, located at 1930 Rev. Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd. The free event is designed for business owners, entrepreneurs, and vendors interested in supplying goods and services to the U.S. Coast Guard.
City leaders expect the event to attract hundreds of attendees looking to expand their businesses through federal contracting opportunities.
Learn How to Compete for Federal Contracts
During the event, Coast Guard procurement professionals will explain how the federal contracting process works. They will also guide attendees through the steps required to register with SAM.gov, the federal government’s official vendor registration system.
In addition, participants will learn how businesses can qualify for future Coast Guard contracts and discover resources available to support vendors throughout the procurement process. A question-and-answer session will give attendees the opportunity to speak directly with Coast Guard experts.
Supporting Birmingham’s Small Business Community
City officials say the partnership aligns with Birmingham’s ongoing efforts to strengthen small businesses and create new economic opportunities throughout the community.
By helping local companies navigate the federal procurement process, the city hopes more Birmingham businesses will secure government contracts, expand operations, and create new jobs. Officials also view the event as another step toward increasing access to business development resources and helping local entrepreneurs compete in state and federal markets.
