Miss Alabama 2026 Ruby Tilghman is highlighting some of her go-to restaurants in Birmingham, offering a look at the spots she has already added to her growing local dining list as she spends more time in the city.
Fine Dining Favorites Across Birmingham and Homewood
In an online interview, Tilghman has explored several of Birmingham’s higher-end restaurants during special occasions and visits tied to her time as Miss Birmingham and her studies at the University of Alabama.
One of her standout picks is Current Charcoal Grill in downtown Birmingham, where she has tried dishes such as pot stickers, calamari, and short rib. She also highlighted Lapeer Steak & Seafood, noting the restaurant’s steaks and seafood dishes, including calamari, burgers, and fries, as memorable favorites from celebratory meals.
In Homewood, she also recommended The Battery, where she recently enjoyed a king salmon dish during a break from pageant rehearsals. She described it as a welcome sit-down meal after a busy schedule.
Coffee Shops and Casual Go-To Spots
Beyond full-service restaurants, Tilghman also listed several Birmingham coffee shops she regularly visits. She pointed to Cala Coffee in downtown Birmingham as a favorite, where she typically orders an iced latte with honey and oat milk.
She also highlighted Red Cat Coffee House, especially the Railroad Park location, where she has tried signature drinks like the Persian Latte with almond and white chocolate. She noted that she enjoys documenting her visits and sharing them with her family.
A Growing Local Food List as She Stays in Birmingham
Tilghman said she keeps a running list of restaurants she still wants to try in Birmingham, reflecting her growing connection to the city. Her experience as Miss Birmingham helped her explore the local food scene before becoming Miss Alabama 2026.
With plans to remain in Birmingham for her duties and future medical studies at UAB, she expects her restaurant list to continue expanding as she experiences more of the city’s dining culture.
